Worklenz v3.1.1 ships the ability to copy a task into another project, carrying over matching custom fields instead of recreating it by hand. Alongside this, 8 improvements refine custom fields, expense creation, and guest access, and a wide set of fixes resolve issues across Reports, Client Portal, Task Drawer, and guest permissions.

Features

Tasks

  • Copy a task to another project
    Duplicates a task into any project you have access to, carrying over matching custom fields, so you no longer need to recreate it by hand.
    How to use:
    1. Right-click a task in the task list, or open it in the task drawer, and select "Copy to project"
    2. Search for and select the destination project
    3. Confirm the copy. The task is duplicated into the target project as an independent task, and Worklenz shows which status it will use if the target project has no matching status

✨ Improvements

Task List & Display

  • Assignee names now use the same display style as the rest of Worklenz, replacing an inconsistent layout in this section

Comments & Updates

  • Hovering a message timestamp now shows the exact date and time, alongside the existing relative time text

Task Drawer

  • The "Blocked by" dependency dropdown no longer forces a selection when it is the only available option

Custom Fields

  • Custom fields now sit inline in the task drawer next to built-in fields, instead of a separate collapsed section
  • Custom field values can be edited directly from the task list or the drawer, with visibility toggles for fields beyond the first four

Files

  • Added pagination to the Links page, replacing the single continuous scrolling list with manageable pages

Finance

  • Added a dedicated "Add Expense" button to the Expense page, so you no longer need to open the New menu first

Members & Permissions

  • Guest users can now view Workload and Roadmap for projects they have been invited to

🐞 Fixes

Client Portal

  • Fixed missing spacing between words in the Manage Projects action button labels
  • Fixed the "Access Your Portal" button rendering in white instead of the primary theme color
  • Fixed the Client Portal menu item disappearing from navigation on screen resize

Task List

  • Fixed bulk status changes updating the status label but not the task's progress percentage
  • Fixed tasks getting duplicated when Enter is pressed multiple times while creating one

Task Drawer & Custom Fields

  • Fixed text-type custom column values being editable in the task list but not in the task drawer
  • Fixed custom columns changed from People to Text or Date displaying raw IDs or "Invalid Date" instead of converted values
  • Fixed file uploads in the task drawer getting stuck on "Uploading..." for files well under the 250MB limit
  • Fixed the word count on the task description not matching the actual number of words entered

Reports

  • Fixed Project Insight exports including only charts and omitting the rest of the report details
  • Fixed some Reports sections staying in dark mode after switching to light mode until the page is refreshed
  • Fixed a blank tooltip appearing over the Tasks Progress column on the Members report
  • Fixed task priority and due date changes made in the task drawer not reflecting in real time on the Members report
  • Fixed an empty tooltip appearing over project progress bars on the Grouped tab of the Projects report

Home & Time Tracking

  • Fixed the This Week chart losing prior data and failing to show billable and non-billable time logged on the same day
  • Fixed Status and Priority labels showing incorrect colors in Light and Dark mode on the Log Time and Time Entries pages

Finance

  • Fixed Actual Cost showing as 0 in the Projects Finance Health table despite projects having recorded costs

Members & Permissions

  • Fixed Member-role users being redirected to an "Unauthorized!" page when clicking the plan-expiry button, instead of the button being hidden or disabled
  • Fixed the Assignees column border not displaying in Guest View
  • Fixed deactivated guest users still being able to log in and access their previously invited project
  • Fixed guest users being able to create tasks, subtasks, and statuses from the Kanban board

Localization

  • Fixed Schedule page tooltips not translating when switching the interface language
  • Fixed Schedule page filter labels not translating when switching the interface language
  • Fixed the "Log Time" button not translating when switching the interface language

Settings

  • Fixed profile name changes not persisting across page navigation until logging out and back in

Task Status

  • Fixed updated custom task status colors not reflecting on Home Overview, Log Time, and the Tasks report after being changed

Roadmap

  • Fixed the Today button in Roadmap not showing an active state after being clicked

Projects

  • Fixed custom templates under "Your Library" always showing "0 tasks, 0 phases" instead of their actual counts

Tasks

  • Fixed an "Unknown Error" appearing when copying a task with a non-main status into a project without that status
  • Fixed duplicate success messages appearing after copying a task to another project
